English Literature Major and Journalism Minor, Donna’s first job was writing for the Enterprise Newspaper in Westchester County, New York. She has always been fascinated by the written word and the smell of newsprint. Both her father and grandfather were printers.
Donna is currently the owner of Donna Schmidt Communications, where she assists small businesses with strategizing creative, on-target, professional marketing programs. Donna also writes feature stories, content and short film scripts for these clients or for private clients and pens features for many local publications.
Previously, Donna worked at the Marriott Marquis in Manhattan as a Tour and Travel Manager, at several ad agencies as an Account Manager and was the President/Owner of a small publishing company, Donnin Publishing; she has been a contributor to a Gannett Food Blog, “Small Bites”; AOL’s Nyack-Piermont, Pearl River, New City and Nanuet Patch, a community-specific news and information online platform; www.haverstrawlife.com;Rivertown Magazine; and worked part time for Scene International advertising for special projects.
Donna was the Public Relations Manager of the very successful “Minute of Silence” 2012 Campaign for the Munich 11. A campaign that brought worldwide attention to the ’72 Munich Massacre–getting everyone from President Obama to Olympic Gymnist Aly Raisman involved.
In 2012 she was Co-Chair of a local CSA–Cropsey Community Farm in New City, NY and Co-Chaired the Cultural Arts Festival at the JCC of Rockland.
She is still involved in the community assisting the Rockland Farm Alliance bring farming and organic produce back to the suburbs and is assisting Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Rockland tell “little” and “big” stories.
She loves fresh food, awesome wine and all things grown. Her two mini-dachshunds are always at her feet.
